New Boss 302 Confirmed!

timthumbphp.pngIn yet another poorly kept secret, Ford President of the Americas, Mark Fields, was asked at a recent dealers conference if the rumors of a new BOSS 302 were legitimate.
He then told the dealers that he could drop a hint. And then a 1970 BOSS 302 came rap-crackling across the stage behind him as he smiled ear to ear. “How is that for a hint?”, he asked as the room erupted in applause.  This new car will be based on the 2011 Coyote-5.0 Mustang, with suspension and brakes from the Ford Racing catalog.

The 2011 Shelby American GT 350!

Carroll Shelby himself announced to the world, at the Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction, the new 2011 GT 350.  The car has been extensively modified from it’s not-so-humble beginnings as a Premium Mustang GT, with many new body panels, completely new suspension and brakes, a new interior, and best of all, a supercharged edition of Ford’s new 5.0 V-8, making somewhere near 500HP.  The work completes a package that is far more balanced than the fire-breathing GT500.

Ol’ Shel says you can have your new GT 350 in any color you want, as long as its Wimbleton White with blue stripes.  To get your hands on one, you’ll have to go to your local Ford dealership and buy a Mustang, then have it shipped to Shelby American with a check for $33,000!

Mustang Pace Car!

afmdaytonamustanggtfront.jpgIt’s official- Ford has announced the 2011 Mustang GT will be the pace car for the Nascar season-opener, marking the first time in 40 years the Blue Oval has lead the pack at the Daytona 500, and the Mustang’s debut performance in the role. The car will be then auctioned at Barrett-Jackson to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.

The New 2011 Ford Mustang 5.0

With possibly the worst kept secret in recent times, Ford has announced that the 2011 Mustang will be equipped with an all new DOHC 5 liter V-8 engine that makes 412 horsepower in naturally aspirated trim.  The engine features Twin  Variable Cam Technology (Ti-VCT) that  gives  precise variable and independent control of timing for both intake and exhaust valves. Independent adjustment of intake and exhaust valve timing allows maximum fuel economy at part-throttle, while delivering optimized power in full-throttle situations.

An added benefit is improved drivability and responsiveness across the torque curve because the cam timing can be instantly dialed in at any given time. Prior to this technology timing had to always be a trade-off between power, efficiency, and drivability - a single best compromise setting had to be accepted.
