Welcome to the Golden Empire Mustang Club. We are an enthusiastic group dedicated to the preservation and enjoyment of America’s premier performance car, the Ford Mustang!
All years of the Mustang are welcome.
Members are encouraged to bring their Mustangs to club events, and we have a busy calendar for 2009. Check the forums for event updates.
We have Mustangs of all flavors, from pristine restored ’65s to wildly modified 2008s! Ownership is not mandatory, but enthusiasm is!
Our next meeting will be May 13th at 7:00 PM in the Conference Room at Jim Burke Ford, 2001 Oak Street, Bakersfield, CA.
On April 17th, our beloved Mustang will celebrate its 45th birthday!
Through lean times, great victories, near cancellation, the Mustang has remained Ford’s flagship, and the standard bearer for America in international racing. No other American car can claim the number of racing victories, sales records, or name recognition that the Mustang holds.
Join us as we celebrate a milestone birthday!

Spies inside Ford have let it slip that the new “Coyote” engine family will be the engine for the 2011 Mustang. Sources inside the automaker reveal that the 5-liter V-8 will pump out 400 horsepower in naturally aspirated form, and will certainly feature Ford’s “direct injection” technology.  With Dodge’s Challenger and Chevrolet’s Camaro (maybe) nipping at Mustang’s heels, the current Modular motor series has just about reached it’s design limits.
Its hard to tell from the photos whether the engine will sport overhead cams or pushrods.
Rumors indicate that the engine will be produced in the now idle Windsor Engine Plant.

Ford products were the sweet spot in the recent Barrett-Jackson Auctions, with everything from a first production ‘55 Thunderbird fetching $660,000, to a Ford Tri-Motor airplane that got over a million dollars.
In the top 10 was the first of the new Ford Racing FR500CJ Cobra-Jet Mustangs that sold for $375,000!
Just a reminder-
The February meeting will be our annual Valentine’s Day cruise from Jim Burke Ford to Rosemary’s Ice Cream. Be prepared for some calories!

May peace break into your house and may thieves come to steal your debts.
May the pockets of your jeans become a magnet for $100 bills.
May love stick to your face like Vaseline and may laughter assault your lips!
May your clothes smell of success like smoking tires
and may happiness slap you across the face and may your tears be that of joy.
May the problems you had forget your home address!
In simple words …
May 2009 be the best year of your life!!!
Â
The January 2009 GEMS meeting will be back at our usual meeting location at Jim Burke Ford, in the conference room, at 7:00PM.
The newest edition of our favorite pony car has been released- and it appears to be a world-beater once again. Ford has massaged the interior and exterior to make it even more attractive than the previous models, but, more importantly, the engineers have listened to the customers and enthusiasts and brought us a car that handles, rides, and runs better!
In addition, the new Mustang has the longest option list in history. Virtually everything in the Ford Racing catalog is optional on the car, including two supercharger upgrades!
Best of all, the car retains the Mustang “flavor”-Â the long hood, short deck, vertical bar taillights, and most of all, PERFORMANCE.
The 2008 Golden Empire Mustangs Christmas Dinner will be held Sunday, December 7th, at SuperKart Racing. The club will have the conference room from 5PM to 9PM, when the facility closes.
SuperKart Racing is an indoor racing track located at 7021 Schirra Court, across from the Southwest DMV. They have excellent food, draft beer, and RACING!
As in the past, there will be a gift exchange, and the “stealing” game. Please limit the cost of the gift to $20.
